Ghanaian urban gospel musician, Scott Evans, has expressed strong confidence in winning the Best Urban/Contemporary Gospel Song of the Year category at the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz on April 14, the singer stated that anything short of a win would be disappointing, insisting he believes he deserves the award this year.

“If I don’t win this year’s, it’s going to be a blow. I think I deserve to win this category this year,” he stated.

When asked whether his team and supporters were actively voting and if he was campaigning for the award, the “Ready” hitmaker confirmed their involvement.

“Yes we were, trust me, we are voting and I think I deserve. Like I think I have worked so hard for this,” he emphasized.

Scott Evans further argued that although he respects the efforts of other nominees in the category, he believes his consistency and understanding of the genre set him apart.

He also suggested that his musical style and contribution to the urban/contemporary gospel space may have played a role in the creation of the category at the TGMAs, stating that his work helped shape its direction and identity.

The Best Urban/Contemporary Gospel Song of the Year category at this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) features a strong lineup of gospel acts competing for the honour, including Scott Evans, Kofi Owusu Peprah, Ewura Abena, Kofi Karikari, Diana Hamilton featuring Elder Mireku & Ntokozo Mbambo, and Carl Clottey featuring Luigi Maclean.

The category brings together a blend of established and contemporary gospel voices across Ghana and beyond, reflecting the growing diversity of the genre. The 2026 TGMAs ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 9, where all nominees will be hoping to emerge victorious on the big night.
