INDIA – A shocking incident has emerged from Odisha, where a man exhumed the remains of his late sister and carried her skeleton to a bank in a desperate attempt to prove that she was deceased.

According to local reports, the man had been trying to access funds amounting to 720,000 Indian rupees from his sister’s bank account following her death.

However, bank officials allegedly insisted that the account holder must be physically present to authorise the withdrawal.

Despite repeatedly explaining that his sister had passed away, his claims were reportedly dismissed, leaving him frustrated and without access to the money.

In an attempt to convince the authorities, the man is said to have exhumed his sister’s body and presented her skeletal remains at the bank.

The incident has since drawn widespread attention, raising serious concerns about bureaucratic rigidity and the challenges individuals face when dealing with financial institutions after the death of a relative.

The unusual and disturbing nature of the act has sparked debate, with many questioning the procedures followed by the bank and whether adequate alternatives were offered to verify the death of the account holder.

Observers have pointed out that standard processes, such as presenting a death certificate or legal documentation, are typically required in such cases, rather than physical presence.
