Spotify’s new in-app messaging is set to enhance music discovery and strengthen community interaction

Spotify has rolled out a brand-new in-app messaging feature that lets users share songs, podcasts, and audiobooks directly with friends. The tool, called “Messages,” creates a more personal space for recommendations while working alongside existing sharing options on social media and other platforms.
Through Messages, users can send content, react with emojis, and manage interactions by accepting or rejecting requests. To ensure safety, Spotify has also added blocking features and safeguards to curb harmful content.
Industry reports suggest that Messages could make music and podcast discovery more authentic, leaning on trusted word-of-mouth instead of just playlists or algorithm-driven suggestions.
According to Spotify, the feature is designed to “drive hype” around content and transform the app into a social hub for audio sharing. For listeners, this means no more switching to external apps just to recommend a track or podcast it can all happen within Spotify itself.
Spotify’s messaging update is expected to expand worldwide step by step, enhancing how users engage and share on the platform.
